Procedure text

The Definition Of Procedure Text Procedure text  is a text that is designed to describe how something is achieved through a sequence of actions or steps. It explains how people perform different processes in a sequence of steps. This text uses simple present tense, often imperative sentences. It also uses the temporal conjunction such as first, second, then, next, finally, etc.

The generic structures of procedure text are  :
·         Goal/aim ( or title)
·         Materials (not required for all procedural texts)
·         Steps (the actions that must be taken)

Other definition:

A procedure is a specified series of actions or operations which have to be executed in the same manner in order to always obtain the same result under the same circumstances (for example, emergency procedures). Less precisely speaking, this word can indicate a sequence of tasks, steps, decisions, calculations and processes, that when undertaken in the sequence laid down produces the described result, product or outcome. A procedure usually induces a change. It is in the scientific method.

Language Features of Procedure Text

In the Procedure Text, we use
·         SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE. And:
·         Use of imperatives (e.g.: cut, don’t mix)
·         Use of action verbs (e.g.: turn, put, mix)
·         Use of connectives (e.g. : first, then, finally, …)
·         Use of adverbial phrases (e.g. : for five minutes, 2 centimeters from the top)

Generic Structure of Procedure
·         Goal : It is contain the purpose of the text. (e.g : How to make spaghetti)
·         Material or Ingredient : it is contain of the materials that used in the process. (e.g : the material to cook omelette are egg, onion, vegetable oil, etc)
·         Step : it is contain of the steps to make something in the goal. (e.g : first, wash the tomatoes, onion, ...., second cut the onions becomes slice. . . )


Purpose of a Procedure Text
An anticipated outcome that is intended or that guides your planned actions. A particular course of action intended to achieve a result. Or To help us do a task or make something. They can be a set of instructions or directions.
Example of Procedure :
How to make a sandwich (aim/goal)
You need (materials)
·         2 slices of bread
·         peanut butter
·         a banana
·         honey
What you should do are : (steps)
·         Take two slices of bread
·         Spread peanut butter
·         Cut up a banana onto small slices and put them on one of the slices
·         Pour some honey over the bananas
·         Put the other slice of bread on top

Procedure to Charge hand phone battery:


Prepare your:
·         Hand phone
·         Battery Charger

Steps:
·         First, Connect the charger to your hand phone, the flash symbol on the charger plug must face upward.
·         Second, Wait until the battery icon appears on the screen
·         After that, Charge battery approximately 3 hours until the battery icon indicates that the battery is fully charged
·         And Then Removed the charger by pulling out from your hand phone.

General Introduction of CALL
Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) as we know it is being a technology that can help language learning and language teacher. CALLS today are still being updated so that it can be used into the future, in order to be more effective for learners as well as teachers. CALL also helps a lot in research and practice because it is very practical and innovate, researchers CALL think, what is interesting about the CALL? Why it is said to improve the teaching process?
Of all questions, there answers and reasons why CALLinteresting to learn, and why CALL can improve the learning process, they are:
• Learning Efficiency, learners can learn the language efficiently and more quickly without much effort;
• Learning Effectiveness, learners can learn more and retain knowledge of the language and be able to learn more deeply than ever before;
• Access, learners can get the experience of interaction and materials that will be difficult to get it;
• Convenience, learners can feel comfortable learning with the same taste anywhere and anytime;
• Motivation, learners get motivated for learning more, comfortably and enjoy;
• Institutional efficiency, learners do not need more time to learn from the teacher and will get better with a cheaper cost.
CALL has an important role to facilitate a person, and is expected to be adequate CALL users in the field, and the technology CALL fully integrated into language teaching and CALL fully focus on the quality of language learners.
CALL emerged as a new field that facilitates things related to computer use, along with the spread of computers in the 1980s, CALL developed from PLATO system approach to instruction program by students with materials and exercises.
CALL considered as a promising direction, and can have a wider credibility, the CALL is also intended as a computer excellence in learning and teaching, the CALL can also improve language skills such as listening, grammar, speaking, writing, reading, and even can improve pronunciation.
For a present trends and future direction in CALL, CALL is now easier to obtain in the future with online learning, and further facilitate the assessment, and to provide training in the field of autonomous learning, and can improve education for teachers.
